09-27-2017: Zmorph released the Zmorph VX – new generation of its multitool desktop 3D printers.
It was probably the best Zmorph 3D printer in its history
On September 27, 2017, Zmorph, a Polish company based in Wrocław, and a manufacturer of desktop multitool FFF 3D printers, presented its new device model – the Zmorph VX. For the next three years, this was its flagship model, which remains to this day probably the company's greatest achievement.
Unfortunately, as I have mentioned several times before, Zmorph – one of the most well-known and important companies in the Polish AM industry – has been in limbo for nearly two years, functioning only formally. However, today we return to the time when it was at the peak of its greatness, and its future looked bright...
The ZMorph VX was an affordable 3D printer for plastics and paste materials, combining the functions of a laser plotter and CNC milling machine. The device, specifically designed for designers, engineers, and schools, remains that way to that day. The changes introduced in the VX model design included a thick aluminum frame that concealed all cables and electronics, dual drive belts, and an innovative "closed-loop" system that protected the motors from losing steps.
Among other changes were a super-flat borosilicate glass work table, high-quality linear guides ensuring increased stiffness of the X and Y axes, an improved cooling system, a reinforced carriage, and a redesigned Dual Pro toolhead equipped with replaceable components, manufactured via injection molding.
Regarding the work platform, for 3D printing, an automatic calibration system was introduced, while the previously plywood milling table was replaced with an aluminum one, equipped with holes allowing the attachment of clamps to hold the material being processed.
Zmorph, as one of the few desktop 3D printer manufacturers, also developed its own proprietary software – Voxelizer. Although it never became as popular as CURA or PrusaSlicer, it was an interesting alternative for its time. With the launch of the VX, Zmorph released a new version of Voxelizer, with a redesigned interface and an engine enhanced with faster and smarter algorithms.
Unfortunately, this all seems to be (99.9% likely) a finished chapter.
