11-16-2016: Stratasys introduced a new generation of FDM 3D printers – the Fortus 900mc
It also launched Nylon 6, and unveiled the GrabCAD Print platform
On November 16, 2016, Stratasys presented several key innovations in its product lineup: the next generation of its flagship FDM system, the Fortus 900mc, the engineering-grade filament Nylon 6, and the GrabCAD Print platform. The company also announced a collaboration with Siemens to integrate Stratasys 3D printers with Siemens' Digital Factory solutions.
The Fortus 900mc retained the core mechanics of its predecessor but introduced a range of enhancements. These included support for the new engineering-grade filament FDM Nylon 6 and broader compatibility with various materials such as ABS-M30, ASA, PC, ULTEM 9085, ULTEM 1010, and PPSF. The printer featured a built-in camera and GrabCAD Print software, enabling remote management of printing tasks, production planning, and material consumption monitoring.
The printer offered great build volume of 914.4 x 609.6 x 914.4 mm, which was impressive considering the types of materials it handled during 3D printing.
The machine also came with certifications required for installation on production floors, eliminating the need for additional compliance evaluations and accelerating its implementation in industrial environments.
A key component of the new Fortus 900mc generation was the GrabCAD Print software. This application allowed users to manage printing processes remotely, including task scheduling, production monitoring, and material usage analysis.
By integrating with CAD file formats, it eliminated the need for STL file conversions, greatly simplifying workflows. GrabCAD Print also supported collaboration and data analysis functions, enabling more efficient use of Stratasys printers in complex production environments.
